There is.. there are.. Part 2

Hi everybody! How was your weekend?

Last Friday I went to Cape Maeda again. The water was so clear and calm. It was incredibly beautiful! There were many unforgettable moments. Unfortunately it could be the last time I can go there this year. Starting in November the ocean will become colder and rougher. According to many people, there are very few chances to go to Cape Maeda after this month.

To make things worse, the typhoon is approaching so chances are Cape Maeda will be closed this entire week. It's very depressing. うわーん I may have to consider finding a new hobby for the winter.

Snorkeling is wonderful not just because we can see fish. It's the combination of watching beautiful marine life, beautiful marine landscapes, the feeling of freedom in the water, and the great exercise. After two hours of snorkeling I feel dead tired, but I also feel like a million bucks.

Anyways, last week in Beginner and Intermediate Class we talked about describing different places, using "there is", and "there are":

Example: Kokusai Street
Kokusai Street is a famous street in Naha City.
There are many souvenir stores and tourists on Kokusai Street
There are many interesting people.

We looked at different places in Okinawa.
In Southern Okinawa (南部) - Shintoshin, Itoman, Kokusai Street, Tamagusuku
In Central Okinawa (中部) - Onna Village, Chatan
In Northern Okinawa (北部)- Yanbaru

In Intermediate class we covered some more advanced ways of expressing amounts:
quite a few - けっこうある/いる
practically nothing - ほとんど何もない
practically nobody - ほとんど誰もない

If you had a second home, where would you want to live?
Many people chose the area around Chatan and Onna Village, because the ocean is very beautiful. There are many American people in Chatan so we can experience a multicultural city.

Quite a few people chose Shintoshin, especially people from Mainland Japan, because it's very convenient.
Also, quite a few people chose Yanbaru, because the ocean is very beautiful and there is a lot of nature.

For some reason, practically nobody chose Itoman or Tamagusuku.

注意:恩納村に奇麗な海がある->There is a beautiful ocean in Onna Villageって英語でだめ。海は世界に一つしかないという感じがあるので、"The ocean is very beautiful in Onna Village".
