Silver Week update.

Happy Silver Week!

I have four days off in a row. But unfortunately I don't have any special plans. I plan on going to Cape Maeda tomorrow if the weather is good.

In intermediate class, we looked at the handout (posted last week). We also talked about shotgun weddings.

Some people said shotgun weddings were unacceptable
There are many useful words in the English language that start with UN and end with ABLE.

un-accept-able (adj.)
1. It's unacceptable!
2. The service here is unacceptable.(ここのサービスは許せない)

Can you think of ONE english word only, that means:

信じられない
考えられない
避けられない
耐えられない
止められない
忘れられない

There's another great word, UNREASONABLE For example, if I say "my girlfriend should cook, do housework, and take care of me", you could say "that's so unreasonable".

The other phrase I taught was "Chances are".
If you have a shotgun wedding, chances are you will get divorced.

You can put "chances are" in front of any sentence, to add a 可能性が高い feeling to it.

Example:
Cape Maeda is closed today.
Chances are Cape Maeda is closed today.

That's all for now. Have a nice Silver Week!
