Sometimes you can't explain the appeal of something.
So you want to say:

やらないとわからない。

The word "unless" is used often in English for this kind of sentence.

わからない = you won't know
やらないと = unless you try

You won't know unless you try.

（文法的にちょっと難しい。順番が逆になって、unlessと言う言葉も直訳もない）

Another common use of unless is with the sentence

There's no point. (意味がない）


例えば飲み会で飲まない私にこれを言っていい：

（ビールを）飲まないと意味がない

There's no point unless you drink.
