Name: Marshal Holmes
County: American

Hello and thank-you for your interest in our school. My name is Marshal Holmes and I look forward to meeting you.

A little about me-I have been living and teaching English in Japan for over 3 years now. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and grew up in Georgia. I received my bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in California where I studied Japanese language, history and culture. I also spent one year studying at International Christian University in Tokyo.

I know how difficult it is for many people to get the chance to actually USE the English they spent many years learning in school. I enjoy being able to help people practice and improve their English. Having studied Japanese myself, I am aware of how difficult it is to learn to use another language. One of the great joys of this job is to see people ENJOY using English, while become better at it!

I believe that by learning to communicate in a foreign language, we create many new opportunities for ourselves. I have always had an interest in meeting people from all different parts of the world. By talking with different people, we can learn more about the world we live in and also more about ourselves. One of the greatest joys is to be able to talk with someone in their language, when they are unable to speak yours. When you can do this, you can make a new friend.

My hobbies include playing drums, music, reading, and of course traveling. My three favorite places to travel are Kauai-Hawaii, Italy, and Okinawa.

Whatever your reason for learning English, and no matter what your level, I am sure that you will have a great time studying English here with us.
